 Geological Sampling Best Practices: Soils, Tills, Bedrock and Mineralization  

Instructors: Tim VanNostrand, Greg Sparks and Jennifer Organ 

This full day short course will focus on all things sample related including sample type (soil, till, bedrock, mineralization), size, selecting best locations, sampling techniques, tools used and sampling safety.  

The short course will include both a lecture and practical field component.  

The morning will be divided into sessions on:  

-Designing a sample program, determining scale, sampling locations and sample type,  

-What is till? How does it form? And how is it sampled?  

-Sampling bedrock and mineralization,  

-Labelling and note taking.  

The afternoon will focus on the practicality of sampling, with safety demonstrations using various tools and techniques.
